San Francisco - Vegas
Discussion
Afternoon.
Posted a while back about our (SWMBO and my good self) trip to USA - have received a quote from a company - couple of things - does it sound alright money wise and are the stop offs (locations I guess more than hotels)OK?
Arrive SF Oct 22 (Saturday) stay 2 nights Stanford Court,
Pick up (decent) car. Off to Yosemite - stay 1 night Tenaya Lodge.
On to Sequoia stay 1 night Wukaschi Lodge and finally
Vegas - 3 nights in Encore (Wynn) Panoramic suite.
Fly back to Heathrow.
All in £3,100.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated. (Also what sort of money per day to people think - not a massive gambler but want to have decent time food, drinks etc.)
Thanks

Whatever else the trip brings you, the Wynn will be a highlight. Its effin awesome. I've only stayed in two Hotels that I would rate higher (Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi and Grosvenor House Dubai).
The buffet breakfast is off the charts!!
Edit - Just realised the OP was referencing Encore not Wynn, but I imagine it's just as good!

Where you're going sounds great. Where you're staying sounds great too.
After having done San Fran to Vegas, with Grand Canyon as well in a week, I would say that you have a lot of driving to do.
Since the flights, hotels in San Fran and Vegas and car one-way charge will be the bulk of your trip cost, staying an extra week won't really cost much more.
Consider an extra couple of days camping an hiking in both the parks, (I've done this as well as the 1 week sprint trip,) and staying at Grand Canyon Village, at least for one night to see the sunrise over the Canyon.
There are loads on threads on PH about West Coast trips, have a pick through them!

Thanks for the comments - I see a general theme that we are probably taking on too much driving. Soooo - what do people recommend? Cutting out a stop (either Sequoia or Yosemite) or losing a day in Vegas. To be fair Vegas is the main reason for me (not SWMBO) to be doing the trip so would prefer as much time there as possible.... but open to suggestions. Cannot do another week - Grandparents only prepared to look after anklebiters for the week!!!

In that case then, fly to Vegas for 3 days, then do a driving loop from there.Hoover Dam
Meteor Crater
Petrified Forest
Grand Canyon
Vermilion Cliffs
Zion National Park
Back to Vegas.
Do San Fran on another trip.

Having been to Vegas, I'd leave it out too. If the OP hasn't been there then I can understand why he'd want to go, but for me 2 nights there was more than enough. I'd spend more time in Yosemite and skip Vegas.
(And I did - 3 months in Yosemite and 2 nights in Vegas
)I echo all of the opinions on The Wynn - we stayed there for 3 nights on a great deal from Hotwire.
I love California and the American southwest, however I think you are trying to do too much in one trip and will just end up wanting to go back to all of the places you mention. If you do want to stick to your plan, drop Sequoia for another night in Yosemite (but make sure you are at Yosemite during the week, avoid weekends at all cost). Having said that, to then drive from Yosemite to Las Vegas is one day is a bit crazy.
If Las Vegas is your main reason for heading over that way, how about Las Vegas - Grand Canyon - Monument Valley - Page (for Antelope Canyon) - Zion National Park - Las Vegas. You'll get the bright lights of Vegas and see some spectacular landscapes. Should be under 1000 miles point-to-point and a total of 16 hours driving, according to a quick check of the route using Google maps.
Whatever you decide to do, you'll have a great time!
