Hi All,
Have been doing a lot of travelling recently to meetings with an acquaintance, in a VW Touareg and have enjoyed the luxury and 'wafting' of it all!
Quite interesting in going down this route myself next time, rather than in a little hot hatch.
Criteria:
- Dont want anything mega expensive to service.
- All makes considered - not bothered about the stigma of an old Jag being an old man's car - doesnt bother me (not my opinion either that!!)
- Diesel please
- No more than £12k to buy
- Fairly big - need to get 3 child seats in the back
- Want something reliable - realise that i'll be buying fairly high miles and will want to keep a few years so it's either got to be a good one at holding it's money, or one that'll run to 200k-ish without trouble
- Would prefer not to buy at over 80k
- Auto or manual fine but auto would feel a bit nicer.
Any suggestions appreciated!

By the way, not overly concerned whether it's a 4x4 or saloon - although a saloon would be more economical surely.
Estates also considered - 5-series, A6 etc.
Just found this too - budget may permit with a mileage like this!

I know this example is sold, but look out for another? Seems to fit the bill?

Cheers guys.
Not sure on the seating situation at the moment. The eldest is due to go into a booster seat, and the youngest from a rear-facing to a normal 'toddler' seat - just need to see how they'll fit.
All 3 fit ok in the back of the wife's Renault Grand Scenic.
Phaeton - had considered that myself - very nice. I look at them though and the 6.0 W12 always ends up where i end up looking!
So far, Audi and BMW seem expensive. Mercedes seem expensive on new spec, but as soon as a model is replaced, they drop like a lead balloon in value. Phaetons seem ok value-wise and the Swedish stuff all seems to depreciate to make it nicely affordable.
My current car is a 54 plate, i'd really like to not go any older, and ideally would prefer an 07 plate onwards.
