We had a downstairs room that had been used for building stuff for the rest of the house, then a short period of a dining room, athough only used it once in 2 years! So at Xmas hatched a plan to build a multi function room, predominantly a playroom that could convert to a dining rom at Easter and Xmas with room to seat 8-10.

Started building a modular table, which I used at Xmas for 9. On a budget at this stage, so the 6 person wrought iron and glass dining set was confined to the garden (looks nice) and I got two round Plastic garden tables with pop in legs from Focus, for a fiver each! A slightly trimmed 8x4 sheet of 18mil MGF on top, with timber bracing, gripfilled and screwd the plastic tops to the underside, and popped the legs in, and instant table for up to 12!! When finished with, initial plan was t store in the garage, but then thought I could stand the top up behind the tv unit, like a feature wall! ! ! So painted it in teal blue, and it looked great behind the 32 inch LED tv. The decided it needed something else, so got a massive Spiderman sticker from ebay, and stuck it on, jumping out from behind the TV! Little one loves it! ! For dining duties, I got a couple of table pads from Aldi for £6 each, and we have a huge table cloth already! Although simple I have stood on the middle of this set up table and I am 17 stone, so it is sturdy!

But the room needed more.

Xmas got my 3 year old a Wii from her "childish" Uncle, so that was installed, along with my PS3 from the other room, whihc I've never really used tbh! Along with some good nick and nice sounding AV equipment from my old house, that was in the loft. (I didn't use it when doing the cinema room a few years back as it was not quite up to rumbling a 7x5m room). But the "Playroom" is only 4x4.5, so out it came. Trusty Wharfedales 7.3s (how doe they sound so good for 10 years old and £200 a pair) a brilliant old Sherwood AV amp (far richer sounding that 2k of Denon in the main AV room)and although the nice Philips CD player had given up the ghost in the last 5 years tucked away, the PS3 can cover those duties, we were on a budget!! Add soem Gale bookeshlf speakers that cost me £15 off ebay 8 years ago for the rears and sound is getting sorted. Got an IPOD dock from Tesco, £16, with remote, it works really well hooked up, and charges the Iphone too! For £16 is is amazing, so much so I am installing one on the sound system for the new bathroom I am doing!
....All is going well! Then I remember the two minter wing back recaros that were brand new from Recaro having been destined for Accord Type Rs, which I ran in a mk2 golf for a bit....Hmmm, always planned an office chair, but could they be recovered from the shed, and put to use......

Oh yes! I got some frame parts from Gameracer, and modified it to take one of the Recaros, so now I dont need my G25 wheel and pedals on a board on my legs!! Suddenly the "waste of money" G25, is bloody awesome, and GT 5 is a huge timewaster! But what about the other one.....ah how about buiding that old but great sounding BK subwoofer into it.....! Some formed ally brackets, screwfix for bolts, a couple of pieces of MDF and instant Subwoofer recaro, (which looks extremly cool in the corner if I say so myself)

Add to that a Homebase jumbo cord sofa "half price" plsu 15% off on their current promotion and for a total outlay of about £380, the room is complete!! I've had to invest in a new centre speaker as the unit that I am using for the TV (we had) is a sideboard not a TV unit and has now space for it, so £22 got me a nice audica slimline one from the bay!

Although whether a kids playroom should have all this snazzy gear in it, I am not sure...! Maybe I'll have to keep them out! !

Quite frankly it should be a bannable offence for posting a thread like the OP did without pics ready to go in the first post itself.
