stuck aeriel---mk1 mx5
Discussion
my 1993 mk1 has its original factory aeriel
on occassions the aeriel will descend when the radio is switched off, and at other times the aeriel will remain fully extended when the radio is turned off
when the aeriel is in the descended position , it always extends when the radio is turned on
i have wiped the extended aeriel clean , and lubricated it with WD40, but this intermittent problem remains
does anyone have any idea as to where the problem lies , and what can be done to sort it out?
thank-you

As said it needs a new shaft, the plastic teeth on the bit that pushes it up and pulls it down are worn, it's about £16 for a new one and should take 30 minutes to change,if you order from Autolink ,it will come with instructions to follow, give it a good re-greasing while it's aparton occassions the aeriel will descend when the radio is switched off, and at other times the aeriel will remain fully extended when the radio is turned off
