Price guide for MX5 1998
Discussion
Hi guys,
My second post here, first started post, please go gently on me!!!
I'm regrettably parting company with my beloved MX5 in April, family circumstances mean I need to get a grown ups car (as much as a Scirocco can be!)
Someone at work is interested in the beast, as I like to call her, so I was looking to get an idea on a price range. Once I've tidied a few bits up with the car it'll be in good condition.
It's a S plate 1998 mk2 1.6, with about 97k on the clock, BRG with a hard top supplied with it and add ons like BlueTooth and iPod docking. The soft top is in perfect condition.
Anything else?

Solution: Yes I urm, ok I couldn't bring my self to sell it. Instead I booked us a nice holiday.
Win win situation. You keep the 5' and the OH gets a nice holiday in (insert location here)
Oh but still get the Scirocco. The value of a 5' isn't really going to knock much out of the price of a Scirocco. (new one I presume)

Been looking at these myself.
Early Mk2s are around £2.5k at dealers, and dipping below £2k private - especially the 1.6.
The hardtop helps, but they are relatively rare so you may get more in total if you sell that seperately.
Best guide is to look at similar cars in the classifieds or on ebay. If you 'watch' cars on ebay you can see what they sold for.

My 1998 1.6 Mk2 was listed at £2500 through a dealer before I started haggling. Perfect nick though, with FSH and services at Mazda or a Mazda specialist every 6000 miles.
Hmm, prices may be going up as it's coming up to spring then? Last year around October time I viewed a couple of 2000 mark2 1.8s. The 2000 one with FSH and leather seats they were after 2.5k for, the boggo 1.8 they wanted 2k for, both in very good condition.Gassing Station | Mazda MX5/Roadster/Miata | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
