I met Rob 6 years ago at his house; he was not a great fan of Eddie Irvine or modern F1 and was very well informed.

A true sportsman.

A man with many secrets and a very full life, he will be missed by many. I wonder if we will now learn the truth behind Mike Hawthorns fatal crash?

Iteresting comment. I wasn't aware it was anything other than a plain & simple road accident. Is there another rumour?

The theories I know about are racing someone else, and something to do with an adapted handbrake. Anyone else remember any?

Rob Walker was one of the first on the scene in his Gullwing, many have theorised about a race.

Hand throttle rather than a handbrake.

Please don't think I am suggesting that RW was a part of it but as a local with intimate knowledge of the events and a reluctance to talk about it there has been speculation.

Great men, both of them.
