What's more interesting and NARROWER than a 911?
Discussion
Though my heart says supercar, my head says that they're actually pretty slow on "real" roads with traffic if they're too wide. It also makes them a pain to drive in a city as you're just waiting for them to get scraped by a moped etc.
Isn't its relatively diminutive size a good reason why the 911 is so practical?
Given I only need two seats and a little bit of comfort (a bit more than an Elise for example), what's a more interesting alternative to a 911 that's no wider?

Had thought of that - early Tuscan is on the list (ashamed to say it but more for looks than any relative merit driving wise over the other modern TVRs)
Yep, early one without the crap attached (spoilers and different front) of the later ones and an engine rebuild from decent source and it'd be a great car.BluePurpleRed said:
I know car's get bigger year on year. Not sure about the 911 but you could go for a 993 or earlier?
So if you were looking at a 997 it would be a 911 ... only narrower?
I'm just a lover of classics.
TBH I was thinking of a 996 Targa and £3K of road driving instruction to make the most of it. Just worried that I'd get bored with it. Targa should be an interesting change...?

Im really not sold on this whole width thing if I'm honest. I've done a fair amount of B road hooning in wider vehicles. But maybe it depends what you are used to, I started out in Landies and big saloons. Isn't its relatively diminutive size a good reason why the 911 is so practical?

Not sure what budget you are looking at. But I'd be tempted to look at a few kit cars such as a Murtaya or GKD Evolution. TVR's would so be worth a look too IMO. Or maybe something like a Z3 M Coupe/Z4MC.
370z is probably a new car worth looking at too.

If I was going the classic route it'd be 964 - just seem better value than 993s. Should hold my hands up and say I've never driven a 993 though, just some 964's and a 996.
