Just heard, he passed away today.

Designer of the Lotus Elan and Europa, as well as the workmate.

Very sad loss, and I'm sure an inspiration to product designers everywhere.

Don't RIP Ron - build another Elan, wherever you are, and have some fun with it! Thanks for the chassis!

A talented chap.

I'm a little suprised that there hasn't been more response to his passing.

Is this the only thread open on the subject?

My workmate is still going strong 36 years young. One of the better things I bought.

Didn't he also invent the ball type wheelbarrow? Bit like an early Dyson....... wonder where Dyson got his idea from.

This thread and one in General Lotus which points to this one.

Disappointed that the PH News team haven't had the decency to put this on the front page either (it was notified to them)

Just some of the wonderful things one could do with Ron's invention.

Mine became a nesting station for some bird who took up resident in my garage.

You can just see the nest at the right of the workbench.

Lovely things, went away for 3 weeks just after this was taken, came back, all gone, and loads of bird st around the garage where they had practice take of and landings, bless.
