I'm in the middle of planning a trip to New York with my girlfriend and trying to figure out the visa requirements. I'm British and she is German (what my Grandad would have thought of that I dread to think!) and we'll be staying seven days in total. Do we need visas or anything before we arrive?

You don't need visas, you need to apply for an ESTA on-line before you go, there is a fee of £10 I think.

Cheers, I'd thought that was it but I wanted someone to confirm it.

Dont leave it to the last minute like my auditor did last week....you can do it online, but as there is no free wifi in T5 you may find it a little difficult and stressful!!

Also make sure you go to the correct website, there are many companies offering a service for a fee, do not pay it!

I think this is the official US website

https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/

We're going to Orlanda at Easter and applied for our ESTAs last night. Two were approved straight away and the other two within 20 minutes.
