Attended a do in London this evening at a washroom products showroom.
I feel it my duty to report that I bid farewell to last night's tea on a bog costing £7,340 (Ex VAT).
For those that are interested, it was a Toto Washlet and was, it has to be said, a very pleasurable experience. However, it does beg the question; how much money do you have to have to consider £7k for a chod bin a reasonable amount to pay?

It is amazing the prices they charge in the UK for these.
Clearly competition/supply needs to increase, as a similar item in Japan (or even the US) is only at most about two thousand pounds e.g.
Japan: http://item.rakuten.co.jp/hinode/ces9923rj/
US: http://www.toiletwarehouse.com/s/toto-neorest.html
Clearly there's some additional cost involved in having a UK spec model (100/110V -> 240V, complying with UK Building Regs, VAT (20% in UK vs 5% in Japan), etc.) but the premium being charged does seem to be criminal.

A builder who is doing a job for my Daughter at the moment.
His plumber fitted a gold plated jobbie for one of the brothers who own/owned the ladies fashion store that is an anagram of 'mob charme'.
He still has a photocopy of the invoice on his wall.
£9.500 plus vat plus delivery from an Asian country.
That was back in 2003.
