Finally! The Rock Has Come Back to the WWE!
Discussion
Okay, I genuinely haven't watched pro wrestling for years, shunning it in favour of the actual proper fighting offered by the UFC etc. I guess I just grew out of it as most people do when they realise it's all made up stories. The thing is, every so often there would be someone who would come along and make "the wrestling" a great watch and in turn elevate themselves to a level beyond that of a big shot in pro wrestling circles and become a real global breakout star.
They're always WWE/F wrestlers like Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Ultimate Warrior and Giant Haystacks. (Okay maybe not Haystacks, although he did appear in the WCW as The Loch Ness Monster) Those guys went on to have movie careers, comic books, reality TV shows etc etc.
There's one guy who stands even above them in terms of global appeal. during his time in wrestling he displayed a charisma and way with words which imo nobody else has ever matched. He was The Rock, or The Great One as he referred to himself. In any case he eventually left the WWE, after I'd stopped watching it, about 7 years ago as his movie career really took off in a way even Hulk Hogans didnt. Not for the Rock was rubbish like Suburban Commando, nope old Rocky went on to star in proper blockbusters like the Scorpion King and Return to Witch Mountain and is supposedly pulling in $10 million a movie these days.
So, this years Wrestlemania Event was in trouble, the ratings for the WWE in general are down, the WWE seemingly lacks any stars of the stature of Hogan, Austin or the Rock and is relying on some ass hat named John Cena to be their draw. Vince Mcmahon called The Rock.
The Rock doesnt need pro wrestling anymore, he's done everything there is to do with it but he's agreed to come back in order to host the Wrestlemania event. I have no idea what that actually means, I doubt it means putting his body through the rigours of an actual wrestling match but it does mean that a few nights ago they got to announce him as the host of Wrestlemania on the weekly Raw show and out he came to a simply bonkers ovation or "pop" as it's known.
So, and I make no apologies for this, here's the video of his return, watching this, for 20 minutes or whatever it lasts, I was 12 years old all over again.

Its nothing now compared to the ;Atitude Era' which sort of lasted 97-02 ish. There were some great characters and storylines and matches but I think at the end of that period they kind of pused it to the limit and found it difficult to come up with new ideas and especially talent.
Also, they cannot get away with as many gimmick characters liek they used to in the 90s which is what made it fun to be honest.

I agree, but The Rock was very much part of that era and his return, even if its for one or two nights only still gave me goosebumps. Also, they cannot get away with as many gimmick characters liek they used to in the 90s which is what made it fun to be honest.
Finally,
FINALLY,
FINALLY, THE ROCK HAS COME BACK TO THE WWE...
I'm afraid to say i've watched the video, even knowing what was coming, it still gave me goosebumps when his music came on. I haven't watched any WWE for a good 5 or 6 years, but his return has certainly caused a big buzz. We all know its acting and fixed, but The Rock really does bring something special to the show.
I wont watch it week after week, but i may flick over to see whats happening in the build up to WM27...

I am 12 yrs old too!!! Brilliant stuff. I stopped watching the WWE crap since 02...got me back into it again now!
The best was when the Undertaker came to WWE in the beginning!!! The mysterious nature of that character was pure Gold!!! All the other stars had to convincingly beat him to prove their stuff! And that man could take some serious beating and still stand up!
Dont forget the man...Hitman Hart!
