Now I know there have been a gazillion posts about this already, but the search engine is down.
My shiny new cans arrived today, but I can't get the old ones off. the clamps came off OK, but the mufflers just won't budge. any suggestions before I have to go to kwik fit or the likes?
Cheers
Phill.

If they are the original cans i would think they will need a little heat to get them off......

I just wiggled mine in a circular motion until they became free, also check they haven't been spot welded too, one of mine was confused

I tried heating them with a blowtorch and got nowhere, not a chance in hell of spinning them, I even bought a strap wrench for that very job. Maybe I didn't heat them enough?

Loads of penetrating fluid, leave overnight then try again with a lot of brute force.

I'll give it another go tomorrow, weather dependant. It's brass monkeys out there just now and I haven't got a garage.

I tried all sorts of methods on mine and in the end I made some special plates to protect the body work and subjected the original cans to some heat and after some time and wiggling they came free, quite a job but worth it, now have colour coded CCC's! smile Mr C

Well finally got the new end cans fitted. What a difference, especially on the pops "n" bangs side of things. Big shout out to Simon at powertechperformance, for a really nice product. Another shout out to my local Kwik Fit in Elgin, I could not have got those cans off on my own in my garden. Cheers all

Pics as requested. Sorry about the dirty car and smudgy fingerprints on the cans, but I've been driving, not cleaning.
Cheers

I would check the clamps after a while to make sure that they are still tight (and for peace of mind) as one side on mine became loose and I lost the can exiting a roundabout, once they start to rust back on then you should not have a problem.
