Thoughts on this E36 M3?

Fancy getting back into an E36 M3 after selling my E46 330i Sport recently.

Have been watching this on ebay for a while and wondered what others thought of it; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

Has also been for sale on PH at £3.3k.

I had 2 x Evo's before but never a 3.0 so would be interested to see how they compare.

I realise at this end of the market it's not going to be perfect, but should still be a fairly usable quick tool.

One question though are the wheels wrong? Should it have cyclones on it?

I saw that for sale and was quite interested, but in the end I bought an Evo convertable.

I think it looks OK, but only a closer inspection would tell. It has been up for sale at £3500 before, so has just been reduced.

Without really inspecting it it's difficult to tell however the advert is fairly sparse on information. Personally I'd rather buy from an enthusiast who's spent money on the car and can be bothered to actually tell you about it in an advert. I like the look of this one for a little more money...

just looking in the 94 and 95 catologs and the saloons not have them wheels unles somebody request them when new
15 year old car lot have had refurb wheels fitted at some point they are m3 wheels so would not worry to much

Yes Duff the one you mention looks like a better car, but i've had 2 x Evo coupes already, might be nice to try a non-evo saloon just to be different!

Not too keen on the wood trim and saloon chassis, much prefer the coupe look.

It may be the pics, but the black paint coat appears to have lost its deepness and appears faded.

The 3.0 is often prefered as you dont have Vanos problems with this engine and the 3.2 EVO does suffer and sounds quite tappety. The 5 speed box is also much stronger than the 3.2 6speed
These wheels were an option from new and were Wider at the rear than the front, standard on the coupes.
You will find a much nicer 3.0 for this money than a 3.2

I think you're thinking of "contours" - the saloons came with those as standard, with the other styles as options. The black saloon looks worth a check, although I'd doubt the mileage as he doesn't seem to want to support it. The Mora Evo coupe looks a better bet to me, if you can squeeze him down a bit. Both are a lot of bang for the buck, in both a good or bad way...

Quite right Mark I am thinking of Contours rather than Cyclones (which are a Peugeot wheel style)....
