Hi all ,

Just come back from having an abs sensor done on the car and whilst driving home i decided to have geometry checked/done at the local Chemix, where i'd had a few cars done previously.

Does this look right to you, as it's saying the castor of the front wheels is out? (ie. red)

Did they add weight in the car? The BMW suspension has to be preloaded.

Yeah they did, on all four seats and in the boot then the tires were checked.. The car seems to pull slightly to the left now and the steering wheel is off centre to the right, not by much but enough that it'll will annoy me.

When I had my last car done I had the same problem. Very annoying!

The car pulls to the left because you have more toe in on the right front than the left.

o/t but how does the car feel after 193k?

Yes, that is very high mileage and I would be interested in how the car runs too, and what has been done to the car along the way. Perhaps the OP could start a new thread to cover this, please? I am thinking of getting an E39 M5 as a long term car, and so I am very interested in their reliability.

The car had a full engine rebuild at 120k by BMW and the head was changed at the same time so its got a 2002 revised cylinder head. Also the car has had a new gearbox along the way. I used the car to commute from Birmingham to London in on a daily basis for well over a year so the majority of the mileage is motorway to be honest. Other than regular servicing and a couple of abs sensors i've not had to do anything to it. Recently went to BMW for an MOT and the car was commented on as being in astounding condition for the mileage...If i was to give any advice to anyone contemplating buying one, i'd say buy on condition rather than mileage. I'd much rather buy a car with a higher mileage which has been regularly serviced and has had the big jobs like clutch and brakes all ready done than buy a 60-70k miler thats just coming to the point where your going to have pile a couple of grand into it. I looked at quite a few lower mileage examples before i settled on this one. Think i bought it with about 150k on it. I have thought about selling recently but cant think of anything to replace it with.

With regards to the 4 wheel alignment, it'll be going back to the place tomorrow to have it redone.
