Mixed to match paint, too dry?
Discussion
I wanted to colour match some interior bits on my smart, and so went to a local automotive paint supplier (not Halfords) and had a can of http://www.u-pol.com/product-cat/135/custom-can%E2... made.
I used it, used Plastikote plastic primer and then this stuff on the top. Did 3 or 4 coats, and have just covered with clear lacquer, and the lacquer has disolved the paint!
I've done the very same in the past, but instead of custom colour I used a standard Plastikote spray and it looked brilliant and the result was superb.
This stuff in the can is very very powdery, I sprayed it in the kitchen and it's literally left a fine dust of yellow everywhere, which the off the shelf stuff didn't. Should it really come out very "dry" and leaving no shine? I'm sure it's faulty but I thought i'd ask the PH massive for their opinion.

youve baught a base metalic they do come out sort of dry and dont leave a shine thats what lacquer is for, dont now what you mean about the lacquer disolving the paint, is the lacquer single or two pack
Holts Acrylic Lacquer is what i've got. My colour is a solid, not metallic so in theory I shouldn't have needed to lacquer it. J500ANT said:

theres no need to lacquer a solid but if your saying it comes out quite dry and its a solid in an earasol then it sounds like theyve not mixed it properly, i dont see how a solid can be dry and unshiny though, sounds exactly like a base to meEdited by wifiwupding on Friday 18th February 23:50
