Busted knee on holiday...need advice!!
Discussion
Hi guys, I'm on holiday in Bali at the moment and fly out tomorrow (Sunday).
Yesterday I took a tumble getting out of the pool; basically my right leg slide forwards and my left leg stayed put and ended up with it twisted up underneath me.
My ankle and foot feel bruised and a bit sore but my knee is flipping agony. It is about twice the size as normal and I cant bend it much. I also cant put much weight on my leg. I did not hear or feel any pop or crunch at the time and with the small amount I can move it I cant hear or feel anything crunchy.
Medical care here is primitive at best and hideously expensive for a tourist so I am going to try and hang on until tomorrow.
Can anyone offer any advice?
So far I am icing it and keeping off it as much as possible. The missus is out buying an elastic bandage so we can strap it up to give it some support.

I assume it's the knee that bent under you that hurts? Whereabouts is the pain? Can you lift your leg straight up off the bed?
Continue icing10-15 mins every 2 hours, rest, elevate +++ regular painkillers, gentle mobilisation.
You have a long plane journey tomorrow, if adamant that you aren't going to seek help prior to flight, you might benefit from 300mg aspirin before your flight, keep your ankles and toes moving and try to walk around plane to reduce risk of dvt. Drink loads of water too. All advice is assuming you have no medical issues or allergies

Strapping is not advised these days and definitely remove strapping prior to flight
...and don't make a fuss and ask for an extra leg room seat etc as they may not let you board without a fit to fly letter.ETA: It might not be a good idea to fly just yet at all, I have no idea.
