Alarm Problems

Hi All,
Taking the S out today - I know its almost snowing here in Scotland but the weather cannot put me off any longer.
I reconnected the battery but cannot turn the alarm off. It does not sound at all but it flashes the hazards. I suspected the battery in the fob so rigged up a 6v supply and it still does not disable it. (now tried new batteries too and still no good).

Where is the alarm? What is the best way to disable it permanently? I never have the car out overnight and the garage is alarmed anyway. The immobiliser is dodgy too - does not allow engine to turn over 1-20 times.

On my V8S the sounder was in front of the front near side wheel, fortunately enough wires had broken over the years to stop it making any noise. The alarm unit was above the driver's right knee. It has several internal relays which are used to intercept the various circuits and some critical ones failed a couple of years ago so I unplugged the whole thing. It was quite difficult prying the connectors apart due to corrosion. Curiously, the car worked fine afterwards.

Thanks for that - I will look later today and try disconnecting it.
I am assuming the imobiliser is a seperate part and I will have to dig around to see where that connects to. It always plays up at the wrong time - last time at a petrol station with a que behind me.

Just for info.
I located the alarm unit exactly as above description. Once unplugged the car worked fine.

I also disconnected the immobiliser, but I had to reconnect an ignition wire - pretty obvious what should go where. That yellow connector I keep hearing about was also going brown so I just done away with it.
The car now runs much better. The engine tickover is not so lumpy.
