Cut a long story short.......

System comprises of the following:

Sky+ HD feeding lounge and main bedroom with no problems
Sky+ box feeding 6 rooms via a powered splitter

For years the splitter plugged into the Sky+ box has fed 6 rooms without a problem using coax cable. The games room has a 42" tv and projector again both through a powered split from the Sky+ source. I took the 42" tv down to do some work, put it back up and now when I plug the magic eye in, the red light lights up but I can't change channels. To confuse me even more, if that magic eye is in line, I can't now change channels in any other rooms being fed from the same Sky+ box. If i remove the magic eye in the games room, the other rooms go back to normal. I have tried two magic eyes, taken the connectors apart in the games room and at the powered splitter to make sure they are both ok, but no joy.

So, to summarise, I've had no previous problems, the red light is on, the magic eye won't change channel and when plugged in stops other rooms from changing channels.......

Confused from West Sussex confused

Any thoughts?

Amp issue by the sounds of it, you may get away with cutting off the plugs and re doing them all, other than that replace the amp.

That's something I've not tried yet, it was going to be a last resort....

That or get a wireless transmitter from the Sky+ to the other TV's in the house (if possible?)

Go into the settings in the Skybox and switch off the RF output 2 power, this is what powers the Magic Eye, then save settings, then switch the power on again and save settings. I often find the box gets confused if you unplug and re-plug a magic Eye when its 'online'.

Thanks - all working again smile

I went onto the settings and the RF output was switched off, so I simply switched it on again.

It's the one setting I hadn't checked yesterday - I had assumed that because the magic eye in the kitchen was working, the RF was on......

Obviously not - cheers beer

If the booster you have is powered from a plug and not inline from the box then even with the box unplugged the magic eyes would all still light up, this is because the amp is still sending 9v down to the magic eyes.

That would make sense, but why did some magic eyes still work if the RF was turned off (and I've no idea how it was turned off, as it has always been on as far as I know)
