Has anyone any experience of these, either ownership or driving thereof?

There are a number of aftermarket kits, coming in at about 5k-7k fitted, with power outputs in the mid three hundreds to avoid compression problems.

They get a mixed press - some think it's a good route to power, others that they compromise originality and reliability, and that you can make a better 911 engine for the same money through normal tuning (stroking etc.)

If the feedback is positive I may consider it for the 964RS, as you can take the kits off at resale I believe. This would also let me put my B10VVN plate on the car with total relevance!

(Otherwise I may have to sell it to UV for his turbo...)

I like the idea of those in that the original silouette is kept, without a dirty great spoiler to house the gubbins, as in the turbo.

Hi UV, yeah, I have a copy of that with the supercharged C4. I was just trawling the PH database!

Are you getting your Probe wheels replaced this weekend?

Also, I may be willing to part with the plate if you do fancy it, so email me at dcolbeck@draftuk.com if you feel that you need to spend more money on your pride and joy ;-)

Ray needs to get his ass in gear and sort out the rubber. I was told it was being done yesterday, but no phone call. I'm off to my place in Spain on Saturday and the car is being MOT'd on Friday so he better hurry up.... This whole Ford association is mighty embarrassing

Domster - You've always been a bit of a stroker anyway, so why not go for this option?

UV - You had enough of Ray and these wheels yet? Want to let me have 'em instead? If you're not sure then I'll defo go for them now. Let me know asap.

ps: Done any work yet?

930 Motorsport do a reasonable one. I know of one very satisfied customer (dunno who it is by name, but know at least one exists!). It's supposed to be awesome, and I've been considering it myself, if only to facilitate powersliding!

However, it will change the character of the car. Some of the wonderful RS-ness may disappear - the rawness and attack of the engine, for example. Is it enough of a trade-off.... I'm not sure. After all, the RS is prety quick as it stands.

And 930 motorsport are advertising a MOTEC engine management unit upgrade that keeps the character of the car but liberates quite a bit more bhp; not as much as a supercharger, but less of an upheaval and cheaper (admittedly not much cheaper).

Grasshopper, I'd suggest you rein in your enthusiasm for now. Learn to master the RS as it is - then decide to tweak.

Yes, I am getting ahead of myself Master!

It was more out of curiousity, and the Motec 325bhp conversion may be a better bet if and when I do decide to liberate more power. It already has a genuine 270 at the dyno, with a cat bypass and Roock chip from JZ Maztech. Apparently it feels quicker than one of AmD's hot film RSs, which claim 300bhp or something.

I may also research air box and exhausts, but worry about trackday noise regs. It is only 98dbs at the moment I think, with a standard exhaust. No undertray.

Hmmm, I'm sure I'll be v happy with the form I get it in, anyway.

PS Scottster, at least it's not a short stroke... ;-)

But are you running with a two or four stroke?

You'll need to improve the lubrication if you go for the more vigorous two stroke method.

I could make all kind of references to mixing oil with your juice to prevent big end seizure...... but that would be crass

ps: Where are you UV, just spoken to Ray and the wheels are ready for me to collect in 4½ mins unless you arrive

Is it worth it? With around three hundred brake attainable without too much expenditure and complexity.

Noise -anything non-standard is going to go in excess of 98db -my Cup Car with by-pass, + 100 cell race cat is on 103-105db at Goodwood,(weather depending) so Coombe, Thruxton and some others out of the question.

If track days are your thing, noise, unfortunately, has to be a major consideration.
