I have also posted this in the VW/Audi Section but though I might get more of a response here in GG smile

So, just got my Bora home from a gruling 2 mile journery.

Symptoms are:

- Loss of power (struggle to get up not very steep hill in 1st gear)
- A sort of a whistling noise coming from the rear of engine
- No engine lights
- Still boosts just takes a lot longer and no where near the power it should be

It sounds exactly like this (but this is not my car):

Any ideas? maybe the EGR Valve, but im at a loss of what it could be...

Thanks
Mikey

Edited for spelling - its late!

Boost pipe. Check the ones around the intercooler, and get your wallet out chap.

If you'd have blown the turbo it would be chucking white smoke out. HTH

Right... i've had a look and found the problem. It's a blown EGR Valve Gasket!! Catastrophically failed, and as a result and been chucking out red hot gasses into the engine bay which has in turn, melted the following:

- Cam Cover
- Rocker cover
- Anti Shudder Vacuum
- Maybe more, as I haven't taken the EGR valve off to have a prope look.

Just waiting for a mate to come over with a few tools that I need.

I will post pics soon... it's a mess! biggrin
