Losing Pre cats gained me 30lbs of torque!!!
Discussion
The existing exhaust remains and they put a sleeve through the silencer effectively making it a straight through system (I think thats right, although I haven't
crawled underneath to look). And it is a tad expensive, the manifolds need to be removed as well as the exhaust, and a flexable connector near the front of the system fell apart and needed replacing. All in all not much change out of 600 notes.
What the hell, you can't take it with you!!

Had a sports exhaust conversion and the pre cats
removed on my Griff yesterday. Torque has jumped from
290lbs to 320lbs, pretty amazing huh!! So come on guys and gals get those pre cats out and sling them in the bin.
Almost forgot........ it sounds fantastic too.![]()
Thanka Austec.
Cats! what cats !!!!!
I've only just noticed this, 30lbs of torque?
I'm presuming that this gain includes any tune up work done by Paul on the rolling road as well. In other words, I presume you had an initial test run, then removed the pre cats and had Paul do his stuff, then noticed that increase?
Also how much did this cost if you don't mind me asking? I've already got the exhaust done by Fernhursts and if this compliments it power wise then it don't sound like a bad idea to me. I'm not bothered by the excessive noise and if I could get another 30lbs of torque then I'd be over 360lb/ft and I like the sound of that!!!
My Griff's booked in for a major service at Austec in 3 weeks so I'm tempted to get this done at the same time.
Decisions, decisions...
