Five character reg plates

I've got a five character registration which will be going on the Chim in the near future, which will leave rather alot of yellow number plate either side of the registration on the rear plate. I'm aware of the minimum legal margin requirements for plates, however I'd like to 'use' this additional part of the rear plate if possible (maybe a Pistonheads sticker ). Anybody else got a five character reg and put this space to use ? Any ideas on Legalities ?

Craigsplates (as I think most know) do the translucent rear plates for Chims and I'm sure could supply a narrower width plate but I don't know if this will expose the back lighting and/or just look naff..

Any thoughts experiences or ideas out there ??

I had a 5 digit plate on the Cerb. I left the translucent rear plate full size, but had a small plate made for the front.

You could have a euro flag thing on it, that'll take up a bit of room. If it's anything like the cerb you won't be able to have a narrower plate - the fixing points are either end, plus it would expose the lights as you say.

The rear Chim plate only just fits anyway.
I've got 6 characters and put a GB flag on - the honeycomb makes it look a bit better as well.

I use one side of the side of the rear for a GB sticker



and then a smaller front plate as I 'have' to have it to aid cooling, officer

Hmmm, mine does look a bit empty doesn't it.
Need to get a Honeycomb plate anyways, so may just have to get a Saltire on the side

When I posted it I referred to the fact it was 6 not 5 and that the border also helps so I don't know what happened to that.

No offence taken but I expected a dodgy comment about my maths so qualified it - I was having a bad typing day (as usual) so probably deleted it before I posted it.
After 6 years or so on PH you have to pre-empt the type of reply you might get to any statement

You're not having a bad day at all, the 4th post in this thread is from you and you said there that you have a 6 character registration number. You made a later post with your photographs.

I put a small PH smilie on the rear plate - was at a friend's garage (only visiting for coffee) and his MOT guy pointed at it & said "MOT fail"
"Good thing I don't bring it here for testing, then" says I...

Hi Fellas thanks for all the pictures and ideas, they're great. David, like the GB on the left with the blue border...I think maybe I'll put the PH smiley on the right side to finish it off
