When mine died I bought one from the usual suspect, the House of shiny tat, but it is as weak as a weak thing. I need one with more omph.

Just take it into a car accessory shop for comparison.
They're a common type...nothing special.
Cost 8-15 quid.

You can buy lengths of new (soft) tubing and t-pieces etc very cheaply from aquarium shops. It's just the airline they use for fish tanks.

Oh, and the shorter the pipe you use, the stronger the jet of water.

Yeah, I had to buy one for mine a couple of months ago.

I asked at my little local motor spares shop to see a universal pump, the one he got from his store room was EXACTLY the same as my old one!

Less than £10 too!
