I have a 1973 De-Tomaso Pantera undergoing a full rebuiid. I am looking for a new Ford Windsor 351 around 400 to 450 H.P. I have looked as Real Steel and American Engines in the UK and Fastco and the Engine Factory from the USA. The USA seems to be a better price taking into account the freight and duty, but I have heard it is bit of a lottery buying from there. Any recommendations would we appreciated.

Real Steel and BAE are both respected suppliers, as are Roadcraft. As for US suppliers, American Speed and The Engine Factory both have a good reputation.

Also try Knight Racing Services in Daventry... Pete Knight specced the combo and built the short motor for my 383 Chevy. He's almost legendary in race circles and is a real expert on all things Ford and Chevy.

For other very highly-regarded UK-based builders, try Kenny Coleman @ EDA and Tim Adams of Tim Adams Racing Engines.

Personally, I'd recommend using a UK-based supplier/builder... there's not much in it by the time you've factored-in shipping, duty and VAT. If anything goes wrong, you could be up a creek without a paddle with a US supplier.

Cheers actually Kenny Coleman was also a referral so I think staying with the UK is the best bet or as you say lowest risk. Many thanks, John
