Yep, here we go again, more welding.

the area's that need work on this car are the drivers side rear sill area as usual, but this one also needs a lot of work on the drivers side jacking point at the front of the sill, I suspect caused by damage from jacking at some point in its life, then there is a small amout required on the passenger side front jacking point

I've managed to make a good start on the back of the sill area

this car has some black rubber type side skirts, so once removed this is what was found

so I started removing what was left of the outer skin

then removed the inner skin and treated the box section behind

and then rebuilt the inner section

thats as far as I have got today, more to follow next weekend smile

How do you repair damaged jacking points ? Mine has a crushed section along one of the rails.

do you mean the chassis rails right under the car?

if so thats a common problem because they aren't actually jacking points, they are not strong enough, hence why yours has crushed, it may be possible to pull it back again, failing that it may need cutting out and rebuilding.

Hi Garath, hope you don't mind but I've dropped you a PM, my MX5 has has rust in the same place as the car in this thread, not as bad externally, it's just broken through the paint this month - just looking for some advice as I'm based in Glasgow and you're a bit too far away otherwise I'd ask you to do it.

well I've managed to get it finished this weekend

Back of drivers side sill finished

now onto the drivers side front jacking point, don't look if you you get scared easily.

after cutting the remains of the rust out, treating and undersealing the internals

and after welding in new metal, panel sealing and undersealing

there was a small bit on the passenger side jacking point to, but I didn't have time to take pictures I'm afraid
