Leaking Manifold test

I have a small blow in the manifold where the four pipes meet near the pre cat. The pre cats are out. Having searched the advice seems to be water test it to find the leak - any ideas on the best way to seal it at one end so it will hold water?

Bit lost with your listing,, If the exhaust manifolds are leaking there isnt any water involved,, Start the car put your hand close to the joint & you will feel were its blowing from,,Not to close you will feel the heat,,,

ah - sorry it is misleading! I know roughly where the leak is and the manifold is now off the car and I need to find exactly where it is leaking from to repair the weld. I understand the trick is to bung one end and fill it with water to find the crack. What would I bung it with?

I used to use a potatoe when messing about with two strokes, I'm not sure you find one big enough, just a thought

Polly bag over the end with rubber bands on ....

Use 4 spuds at the head end and fill from the cat end, or am I missing something?

You dont need to bung it at all, prop it up the right way and you can just fill it. You need to be careful to keep the surfaces dry so you can see the seepage ~ it doesn't gush out if thats what you are expecting
