As the owner of a land rover (and we all know land rover locks are made from cheese).. I'm always on the lookout for ways to prevent thieves half-inching my pride and joy from the driveway.

This recently caught my attention and wondered if anyone had any experience of them, or could offer advice from a legal standpoint?

Apparently since it sits in plain view it can not be described as a booby trap.

Similar (might have been the same !) introduced maybe 20 years ago and instantly banned as illegal. Shame as I wanted one at the time smile
The law says something like you cann't have an anti theft device that can injure a potential thief. That's is why broken glass on top of walls isn't allowed any more.
I was working on DIY device of a detachable seat base, that fitted over the normal seat, consisting of 6" nails so impossible to sit down but had to stop as not allowed and even if nobody sat on them I could get into trouble just having one on my own car.

tis a real shame... I mean ultimately it's your property.

By this measure why is barbed wire/razor wire not outlawed as well?

I think razor wire is at least to an extent.

You have to have such things clearly visible and signs erected.

Now the carpet gripper on my fence is illegal as a deterrent but I use it for DNA gathering purposes. wink
