Get a copy of this. Cracking little book (if you're into that kind of thing).

Strip the turf. Rotovate it. Level. Returf.

A golf green is very different from a lawn.

If you just want a flat lawn you need to fill the hollows with topsoil, not so deep it covers the grass. Gradually you can build it up.

This.

Take your time, I'd let it settle for a week or so after initial levelling, water it if it doesn't rain, level again and then lay the turf, though you'd be better off with specialist fine grass seed for your purpose.

After raking to a rough level, do the 'landscapers stomp' across it to help compact it....then level it again where you've still got humps and bumps and keep repeating till happy.

As a golfer myself I'd love you to succeed but bear in mind that golf clubs have probably 10-15 people greenkeeping full time to get greens the way they are.

Ever thought about an artificial green maybe?

If you want the ultimate lawn that is easy to maintain and stays green year long no matter what the weather, have you thought about artificial lawn!? A few websites below, you can order free samples too.

Screeded concrete over compacted hardcore, astroturf to finish. Don't forget the hole!
