Rolex Watch Swap ?
Discussion
Hello all,
I am seeking a bit of advice, please.
I bought a Rolex Seadweller about 18 months ago.
I have never worn it. Genuinely.
I have a Sub/Date that I have had for 15 years, and due to one thing and another I have only just found out that the old type Sub/Date is no longer available.
My thoughts are:
A / Trading my Seadweller for a new old style Sub / Date.
B / Or sell my Seadweller privately and buy a new old style Sub/Date with no trade in?
Any thoughts on this idea, please ?
Any dealers you know who you could recommend ?
I am not a watch collector; I just like wearing my Sub/Date.
Thanks,
Sam

If your Sea Dweller is an unworn version of the last of the pre-ceramic bezel (ie the current generation of watch that you dislike in the Submariner) then I would think twice about wearing it if you're not that bothered about it. They are super desirable, and super rare. You could sell it for a decent sum of money and use that to fund something else.

Hello Stuart,Thanks for the reply. That’s the reason I bought the Seadweller in the first place.
It is not a Deepsea. A future investment ??
Like I have said , I like my Sub/date , and when I heard they had stopped making the 16610 and they all now had a ceramic bezel , I thought I would try and swap the Seadweller for a new 16610 .
Mikees ; Thanks for the mail.
I’m sorry my thread is not interesting enough for some; I just thought I’d seek advice from a watch enthusiast or two before deciding what to do.
I suppose a snappy and zingy thread would have pleased the junior members here before an adult came along.
Regards
Nick
I think having one of each is the best place to be. Due to Rolex price increases the old style (ie pre-ceramic and Deep Sea) models are looking collectable.
Think I would rather have a Sub and an SD as opposed to two Subs (with one in storage) though for max future value an unworn model would be good.
Actually an SD would be great to add to the collection though I would have to sell my GMT Master to fund it

Ok,I'll bite. Its not about the lack of snap or zing, more a generalised despair (tinged with user fatigue) about internet forum participants who seem unable or unwilling to inject some measure of interest into their posts. Its also about people using the net as a exo-cortex so that they don't have to bother using their own critical faculties. FFS, you own 2 Rolexes, how did that happen? You weren't mindlessly straining plankton out of the ocean with your baleen mouth when you just happened to catch two Rolexes. You must have have had a fairly evolved decision making process in the dropping of nearly £10K (or whatever), you must also know a bit about Rolexes in general. Thanks for the reply. That’s the reason I bought the Seadweller in the first place.

So, reflect that in your post here. Or attempt to. Frankly, it read like like a boring boast about some guy with some Rolexes.
So I'm having a bad day. Meh.
