Guys,

Just quick question - apologies, I know this this has been asked before but the search facility is currently down and I wouldn;t mind some 'fresh' views in any event.

I am currently in the process of looking for a Roadster and the current pool of choices is somewhat limited, especially if one sticks to looking at the main dealers. I must confess that I am not one with much technical expertise about these things and was attracted by the prospect of the 'official 140 point inspection' as providing some security over a random bloke in a car lot (although I fully accept that outfits like Nicholas Mee can hardly be placed in that category)

I was wondering what the general view as to that attitude was - is it being too precious or rightly cautious when dropping close to 60k on a car?

Also, is it common to get the cars (which are not from an 'official' AM dealer) to be independently checked and/or given the same 140 point inspection by a dealer? Does anyone have any experience or indicative cost regarding this?

Thanks guys, any comments appreciated and gratefully received.

To take out an extended warranty the car needs inspecting every year by an AM dealer who charge ~£240 for this - its the 140 point type check. Most dealers waive the charge if warranty. AM dealers will inspect the car for you, but probably only at their premises.

If it were me and I was looking to buy an approved used, I'd buy from a main dealer with a one year warranty and have it looked after by Rick at DMS. If it's a dog, you have the protection of the warranty, you'll know within the first year and Rick will tell you everything you need to know.
