I have noticed that a small pool of antifreeze coloured (greeny yellow) liquid collects in the recess just below the left hand bottom side of the radiator ( as viewed from the back of the car). Is this a common failure point on the radiator?

That's where mine went I think.

Mine too. Decided to split completely, just as I pulled into the TVR Centre, Barnet.

Total cost £530!!! I don't think it could have happened in a more expensive place, although credit is due as they had a 2 week backlog of servicing yet did it for me next day.

Mine went the same way. Warranty covered it, although as it was a recore job, the cost was under 300 anyway. Offord sorted it with their usual efficacy.

I had mine re-cored for 140 squid! I uprated to a 4 core from the standard 3. Never see temp above 85 deg. Sweet. mind you had to remove it myself which was'nt too difficult, and I tarted the fans up in yellow, looks the doggies dudads.

Exactly the same on mine. Seems to be a nice little earner for someone.....

I got mine replaced at Station Hill in Farnham. £330.

Would Radweld hold this together & how long could I expect this to last? Going to France for 2500 mile trip soon and don't want to get stranded!

Personally I wouldn't put anything other than antifreeze and water into the cooling system, Radweld is just glorified gunk for knackered Escorts and may leed to other problems, get the rad re-conned, should be able to get it done for about £100 if you take the rad out yourself.

Mine too - bottom left if viewed from the rear but at the front of the radiator!
It went when the wife was driving it New Years Eve as she pulled into her parents drive luckily enough. RAC came and couldn't fix it but they did come back on the 2nd with a truck and recovered it to the garage for me. Bit of a bummer really 3 or 4 days without it over the holiday period!

My rad also went on this side. £165 for recore and fit from local rad-expert (who phoned me to ask how to open doors !) - but its been 100% since.

I read on an earlier thread (no I can't be bothered to link) that its low speeds over uneven surfaces that knackers the radiators - I've since always made sure that I'm straight-on before going over the large kerb onto the drive - beware anyone else reading this - it looks like a very common failing !

There are complex tunnels and waterways in cylinder heads and heater matrix unit etc, never use rad weld on these cars, you will definately give yourself more grief

Thanks for the help guys. Can anyone recommend a radiator recore specialist in the Midlands (nr Leamington Spa?)
