Hi All

Just for the last couple of weeks my passenger door is playing games. Push the button to open and the door opens but the window doesn't go down. Lower window by button and close door and the window doesn't go up and the interior lights stay on. So Cerbie does know the door is closed. Set alarm and the window closes but interior light stay on. Turn alarm off the lights go off.
I've been living with this up until yesterday when I got all the info I could from previous threads and set about doing them one by one.
Reset alarm (6sec holding fob). Alarm siren works
Unplugging control box above tank.
Door trim off checking and cleaning all connections.
Still does it but now door buttons "sometimes" don't work. Had to use the emergency door opening last night!! But after that even setting the alarm didn't put the windows up.
So 15 - 20 mins later after windows up, down, up, down, close door, open door, up, close, down open etc etc I finally got the cerb secure for the night.
Well after another look this morning I'm still getting all the above. Can someone help?
There seems to be a few threads on door magnets? Don't really understand this one. Can someone looks at these photos and explain?

Oh and if I lift the door slightly and close it it closes OK 90% of the time!

Confused Dave.

Mine was something similar.

Unscrew the two screws on the door part and pull out the little sensor thingie and all the wire that is behind there.

You will find a couple of connectors. Check these as mine were about to seperate, the wire was all corroded.

I just replaced the connectors with a couple of bullet connectors and all was perfect again.

It does give the impression that the car doesn't believe the door is closed if they are not good connections, it's like having an open circuit. When you close the door it completes the circuit but if a wire is broken it will never complete the circuit.
my very poor ideas on electrics

Other than that I can't help I'm afraid.

Incidentally, when I put my foor on the outside of the door and press it did work ok but I found that the connector was roughly where I was putting my size 8's.

Dave,

If lifting the door a little helps, then the most likely culprit is the magentic sensor on the bottom of the door/door sill not being correctly aligned. Take a look at my post www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=6&h=&t=77108 and apologies if you've already read it.

Well it's been working fine since Sunday evening.
Looks like after cleaning the connections the cerbie got confused.
Thanks all for your help.
