Slightly thumpy gear changes on 540i Auto...

Sounds like alarm bells I know, BUT the box was re-con'd around 6months ago.

So I've been advised by a few that it may require a software update or maybe a reset of the gearbox control unit?

I'm talking about slightly 'not smooth' changes from 3rd-2nd or 2nd-1st when coming to a slow/stop.

Any thoughts?

I would have said the first place to enquire would be the guys who did the rebuild. That sounds like the behaviour of mine before I got it rebuilt.

Hmm, I think its out of warranty now.

just fixed few faults on my B10 box. it was holding gears after a kickdown, slow changing between 1st and second and was a bit, not smooth.

turned out the oil cooler was dripping a bit and so the box was low on oil. fixed the prob and refilled the box it now drives better than ever.
