As per the title!

Got a quick question and would be interested to speak, via email or phone, to someone who lives or has lived in a barn conversion, preferably someone who bought and converted - be it by themselves or a builder, rather than someone who bought as a converted property.

Cheers!

I went to look at one a few weeks ago with a view to buying it. It was beautiful and had massive high galleried ceilings. Howeverit had no insulation, and oil fired heating = massive heating bills. Was also quite dark in side, I think this is often the case as the council often dont let you change the window sizes positions from those of the orginal building when converting.

I do - have for 3 years

its a modern conversion - 4 years done to latest modern building regs ...the heating bills are cheaper than our previous 150 year old terrace LOL wink

ours is pretty open plan, barn + cartshed conversion, 5 beds, 3000sqft ish

didnt do ourselves though - it was 90% done (just needed finish) and they ran out of money so sold early

we still havnt finished yet (long story!) - garden to do next

I do have the build history in a folder from the intitial buy, planning, all the "official" stuff, surveys etc

what do you want to know? drop me a PM if you like

I live in one now which we did 50% of the work, the finishing. Before that, I did one for my self from scratch ( Simple one bed barn ) and a large 4 bed x shape cotswold stone barn for my parents, with the help of a local builder.
PM a question if you would like
