Have read today that 4 prisoners in Broadmoor are making a claim under the Human Rights Act for full state benefits. This means that the Yorkshire Ripper and Hindley would receive £132 a week in state pensions - at a time when the Govt is trying to find a way of slashing the pensions of hard working public sector workers.

On top of this, in a deluded effort to help the budget deficit, Ken Clarke has announced that he is pushing for a dramatic cut in the compensation paid to the relatives of victims of violent crime (you know, the people whose loved ones have been brutally murdered by the aforementioned benefit claimants).

Fine, rooms are about £50 a night (extra for TV/playstation/en-suite etc), breakfast and lunch £5 each and dinner £10.

Let them keep pushing, until the ConDems opt out of the EU Court of Human Rights and we draft our own Bill of Rights (including all the relevant checks and balances of course).

No problem! Pay them their pension then invoice them for bed and board, just like they do to my mother at the home where she lives. It'll keep the looney liberals happy but not make any difference in real terms!

Well spotted that man, but you get my point.

I had another idea last night. Put them all on jobseeker's allowance and then tell them they can't have it as they are not available for work.

Guys you are missing a trick here. Just think how much they owe in road tax, parking fines and all the other car-parked-up-for-25-years-outside-the-court-rooms related financial penalties. Then the over due increases and the lost interest.

Friend of mine nearly bought the Ripper's old car, but in the end he walked away from the deal. He said it had been hammered.

Stop worrying, it's going nowhere.

If they succeed then prisoners will simply get charged board and lodging, or maybe the Government will just simply introduce legislation that makes it easier for victims to sue for damages and increase the damage amounts.

Whatever they win will be taken off them in short order.

You are probably righ. But it is the fact that it is even being considered at all that hacks you off. THe second it raised it's head someone in authority in this country should have had the b*lls to tell them (and the Eurocrats)to "f*ck off"; it's what they are paid for.

It is little wonder that extreme right wing parties are slowly gathering support; and the day they ever get any power I'm definitely out of here.
