Seems to me like you have already answered your own question.
If you can't find another suitable place to sell your part then neither is your potential buyer.
What's wrong with ebay?

Ebay's fees are now verging on the ridiculous, I recently sold £260 worth of Xbox on there and ended up with £222 in the bank after listing and paypal fees. I was wondering if there are any main big kit car forums with classified sections. If you can't find another suitable place to sell your part then neither is your potential buyer.

Not wanting to sound like an ebay promoter but.....
With ebay you reach a massive audience to market your items to. Without it you are stuck with local adds etc. Ebay has increased the value of 2nd hand stuff. It amazes me what old carp you can sell on there.
You are quite right it has got a bit more expensive but what would you have got for it in a free add and how long would it have taken to sell?
List it on ebay with a recerve which takes into account the fees etc to achieve what you want for it.

Well that's fine for "any old carp" but what I'm selling is a brand new part that was bought in error. I was going to list on a kit car forum because it seems like something somone might be going out to buy anyway, and they could save a fair bit from grabbing mine. I'm apparently not allowed to say what it is though. With ebay you reach a massive audience to market your items to. There is loads of new stuff on ebay. I really don't see the problem if you set a reserve or start price you are happy with. Why not a straight forward buy it now?
I probably eventually will. As my orignal post said though, are there any other good places to list parts? Ones that don't give 20% to a middle man?Someone who hasn't built a kit car [me] might not know where those that have/are/will are hiding?
