Might be of use to someone. I doubt it's really worth £700 but it seems to be decentish value at £169.

* 80 minutes driving time spread over a 2 hour experience
* See the Scottish highlands from behind the wheel of a supercar
* Cars include Aston Martin DB9, Porsche Carrera S and Ferrari F430
* All insurance covered by Exhilarate Scotland

Just back from a fantastic days driving. The 3 guys who guided us around the route were really nice and were very helpful throughout. They brought along an extra car to add some spice to the day for us to try out so we had 5 in total. We all expected a quick 2hours but we ran over by more than an hour and the guys didnt seem to worried. Even though we were late they added an extra 30 miles for us all as they wanted to fuel up the Porsche. I have spent £170 on 3 laps of a track that lasted for 10 minutes and felt like it was a conveyor belt so this is definately value for money, no fuel costs, no insurance costs, no big deposit, just get in drive and enjoy and as for who would pay £700, after today I would definately go with them as it would still be value for money, but the point is you're not paying £700 but £169 AND thats definately got to be worth it, even to get out of the house for a few hours. The route was challenging and fun with the opportunity to open up, the guys were very strict regarding safety and speed limits in the various villages so I don't think there will be an issue with the law. They do remind you its not them who gets the points. The weather was fantastic which helps and the company was good. They start at a really nice hotel who despite the noise from the cars welcomed us, they didn't expect us to pay for the privilage either. All in all an excellent day that I would have no hesitation in recommending.

I don't understand how somebody can comment on the value of something when they haven't used it or enquired about it or spoken to those who have. I know its very good value for the money but thats only my opinion, but at least mines an informed one.

Have to question the £700 "value" when the same thing can be bought for £199 elsewhere without the "special offer"?

http://www.giftexperiencescotland.com/driving-vouc...

I know from experience that groupon etc etc are encouraging companies to artificially create a higher pre-offer price?

Still think it's a good deal though at that price, so hope it works well for them!

Just thought I'd add to this thread. I done this today and boy what a morning it was. It was absolutely incredible. There was a F430 spider, DB9 volante, Caterham with a 2.2 cosworth engine and focus RS with 400bhp (this car was mental). The guys who run it really are a great bunch of guys. Very strict on the safety side of things but they actively encourage you to push on - safely. The route was superb, the scenery was fantastic. For the amount of time you got in each car and the distance covered it was worth every penny. It is most definetly worth more than it cost, in my opinion.

I will post some pictures shortly. Definite thumbs up from me for the guys at Exhilirate Scotland, I'll hopefully be doing it again very soon.

I bet the owners must be nervous on a wet day! What was the insurance excess?

The guy just told me it was a Cosworth Engine, but yes I assume it's a duratec.

Format was slightly different for each person but basically you picked a sheet of paper that decided which order you drove each cars in. We all met up at the meeting point, went through all the safety bits and bobs. We then set off. I drove the Ferrari first. There was an Exhilirate guy in with you, he was a really, really good guy and let you really open up the taps. The Caterham was out in front followed by the Aston, with the fez behind and the RS bringing up the rear. Most have done a good 15-20 miles or so and then pulled over and swapped cars. I was in the RS next. 400bhp through the front wheels in the wet made for an interesting experience. It was an absolute animal of a car. We then drove for another 20-25mins.

Basically, you drive all the cars for approx 20-25mins and passenger in the focus and ASton too. The whole thing took about 2-2.5hours.

If you contact exhilirate direct you can buy the voucher direct from themselves. Tell them you read the review on here and you should get it for the same price as it was on groupon for. They are doing it right through the summer and looking to expand their fleet. There was word that a Dodge Viper may be getting added to the fleet in the not so distant future wink They really are a great bunch of guys. Proper petrolheads.

Thanks for the write up. I think it sounds like cracking value for money smile

Where are they based and where do you meet them?

That looks brilliant! Spotted a few of the cars around Lochearnhead actually, but never put two and two together. Don't suppose you know what the age requirements are for their insurance?

It was absolutely cracking value for money. You met up in lochearnhead and me them there with the cars. Age requirement is 21 and above so really good. They are really strict with safety and if anybody in the group is driving dangerously then they will be pulled from the drive. At every stop everybody is asked if they are happy with everyones driving.

Just to sum up the guys that run it. I was in the caterham with the roof off and it started pissing it down. The guy told me we're going too slow as we are getting soaked so speed up as we won't get as wet!! I had a chuckle, then planted the (very, very) loud pedal. What a hoot that Caterham is.

I am rebooking again for July/August.

I done the same thing and drove the same cars back in April... Got to agree, for the money (although GF bought me it), its excellent value. I remember mentioning to the chap who's the owner that he should try get the word out on PH, as its a proper driving experience and all excellent cars.

As above, it was well run / organised with safety being the priority as I found out when I got slightly carried away with the Focus (my bad, I accepted the taking to and apologised), but they do allow you to properly use the cars on the right stretches of road, traffic and weather permitting.

I beleive the Caterham was CSR-spec, but slightly tweaked..? It was my favorite car of the day TBH, and has sort of forced my hand in recently buying a tweaked VX220 :-)

Was a good day even though the weather was mixed - got partially soaked in the F430 with the roof down and heavy rain, totally worth it!

Ross

PS.- They also put on an extra car that day too (5 in total), but it was only a 997 Turbo wink

Argued with some of the guys on the meaning of value and then got the thread deleted as it was deemed as advertising!

are you serious? – I recall that anyone who even suggested this may be a good value offer (and there were a few) was verbally abused, one of the most petty and insulting threads I've ever seen. I recall one post suggested that a member should delete their profile and create a new one under a different name.
I have no connection to the company who runs it, nor have I made a booking, I am glad however that those who did make the booking seemed to enjoy the experience.
