A general word of warning to anyone thinking about buying a Milltek sport exhaust for fitting to a car in Spain. The authorities there are very strict in requiring mods to conform to EU homologation requirements. What Milltek sell for fitting to a Seat Leon Cupra does not so conform. But nobody at Milltek has the sense or decency to tell you before you buy the system. If you are happy driving with invalid insurance, no problem. But otherwise, you are just wasting money buying from Milltek.

What does the Spanish view on a car's homologation have to do with insurance?

If the mod is declared to the insurers, and they accept it, end of story.

Sadly my insurance company (and others that I have tried) all require any mod to be recorded on the vehicle's ficha tecnica - the official technical documents. To get the ficha tecnica changed means a visit to a testing centre who inspect the vehicle. But they (in theory) will only approve the change to the ficha tecnica if the mod carries certification of compliance with EU homologation. No certification , no approval - unless the testing technician is prepared to be flexible. A very messy process!
