My nubbins are rusted

My car has metal inflation tubes on the tyres, as well as metal dirt caps. These seem to have pretty much rusted themselves together.

I have tried WD40 and pliers but ended up slightly damaging one of the inflation tubes as the metal seems to be quite soft.

Any ideas?
