Urgent passport / travel help required!

Sent passport off for renewal yesterday and urgently need to get to Belgium. Is there anyway I can get out of the UK via car?

Not without a passport! Although I think you can phone up and ask for a speedy renewal - think you have to go to passport office to do it though

I think, technically, you don't need a passport to travel between EU countries even though we're not part of the "Schengen" agreement. I think your biggest problem will be proving British citizenship on the way back in...

I have rolled up to passport control at Dover only to realise I had left my passport at home. I had my photo driving licence and was allowed to travel on that id. I believe that you can travel with photo id providing you are a British citizen travelling within E.

I believe you will be ok if you have photo driving licence.

I've rolled through dover a few times now without having to show my passport once. It's coming back that's the problem.

Good luck getting the passport people to do anything quickly. Once upon a time they were just slow, these days they are slow and expensive.

Renewed mine last week on the 'standard' delivery, all in it took 7 days for it appear(today). Though i appreciate it doesn't help your situation. Good luck.
