I have a new bullet camera setup, however with the roof on the Elise it over exposes if I put it on the harness bar as it sees all the roof and all the dash, thus the video through the windscreen isn't great.

I found a few videos online and it appears a popular place is to mount it on the roll-cage that runs up the windscreen pillar, however since I don't have a roll-cage I was wondering what track day organisers would think of mounting it my 3 x sucker mount that the camera came with. I can always put a tether on it as well. I know some places don't allow suction mounts, but what about with such a small bullet cam and a tether?

I know some trackday organisers frequent this forum smile

If it's a big "no-no" then does anyone else with an Elise/Exige have any suggestions? I suspect with the roof off it'll be fine, but, well, it hasn't stopped raining in weeks!

Thanks - Daniel

When I've used a suction mount with a bullet cam I've just used a zip tie as a secondary fix to the car,

both track tay organisers and MSA scrutinisers on the sprints have been happy with this.

Thanks Andy, that quite good to hear. I'll see where I can zip tie it to.

Msv won't allow this on trackdays / testing

You could mount the camera there with black tack and tape. I do this all the time with my low rss cameras on the vbox.

Or get a narrower lens for your camera and the over exposure problem will go away.

Hi Ben,

Well spotted on the low res camera smile I'll be putting the high res one there though. I was just too lazy to get the high res one from the boot. I dount I could duct tape it there and have it facing forwards properly, (Maybe on the pillar, I'll check) but whats this lens you mentioned and any idea where I would get one?

Thanks - Daniel

Could you use a jubilee clip with foam inside to attach it to the stalk of the rear view mirror? It would give quite a good view from there, being central and high up looking over the bonnet. Maybe angle it down so that the bonnet is in view at the bottom and the horizon about 2/3rds of the way up?
