Well they say size does matter, and I know the Panasonic's rule the roost. But screen size is corrupting me and I'm feeling the pull towards the 60" LGs - much like this one in fact:

evil Will I go to hell if I trespass down this route? angel

Could you not go down the projector route at that price point?

I had to decide between a £1200 Panasonic and a £600 LG 50" a few months ago. Went for a PK790 and haven't regretted it a bit. The Panny G20's have been slated on the AV Forum.

A friend of mine went for a 60PK590 and it's a great screen, particularly for the £1250 he paid for it. I'd take that over a 50" Panasonic at the same price point.

Just the one I've been reading about. Everyone on Amazon seems delighted with it. Think it's up at £661 - bargain.

How far away from the screen will you be to view?

About 15 feet, give or take.

Check out the LGs in a shop first though. Some of them have very, very reflective screens that totally put me off.

Don't kid yourself about the Panny G20 - properly set-up it's remarkable. I got the 50" instead of the LG 60" and haven't regretted it for a minute. Serious piece of Kit.

Don't be, tempted, that is. False economy.

Chances are, you wouldn't put up with a Kia Perouda.

Too true. While you're around these parts, any idea when then 50" GT30 is out and what sort of price it's going to be?

And don't get swayed by the snobbiness.

My LG gives a fantastic picture. Look on the AV Forums website and look at the G20 thread. It's not happy reading.

Snobbishness?

Please.

The G20 will and does utterly destroy any set from that brand.

It's not an opinion, it's an observable, tub thumping fact.

As for the V20, well...

I have read mostly great things about the panny p42v20 and it seems to of dropped to a VERY reasonable price (as seen at Der's store). Der can you confirm its a top tv and would you recommend picking one up now or waiting to evaluate the 2011 sets? Also i have read some issues with floating blacks/50hz motion issues but id hope they are the exception to the norm?

cheers
dave

How come? Have you ever seen a proper home cinema one? The difference between a decent one and a stty blurred pub one is immense. A decent projector looks like a massive plasma/lcd.
