Following on from the cellar conversion thread, i am starting to research solutions for the ceiling finish.

I have been looking at the MF system in particular with acoustic hangers.

Anybody have a rough idea how these systems price per sq/m in comparison to a standard plasterboard finish?

If anyone has any other ideas ears

On MF ceilings, the acoustic hangers are really not worth it, cost wise these would only be priced at a few quid extra a meter, as the labour element is the same, only extra over on the material cost.
The acoustic hangers are basically made up of 2 rubbers, with a centre fixing, however once this is all installed, you can see a massive bounce in the ceiling.
What i mean by this, is once its plasterboarded, you can push upwards and you will have a bit of movement, due to the flex in the rubbers.

If i was worried about the acoustics, i would use double skimmed acoustic plasterboard (blue backed) tacked onto a MF grid.
If i was massively worried i would install a MF ceiling (Single tacked acoustic blue plasterboard) tight up to the exisitng sub floor/steel work complete with dense insulation and then float another MF ceiling (Double tacked, acoustic plasterboard) below, big cost, however we have done this on many jobs and it works very well.

Any questions, please let me know.
