Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Unmasked

Murcielago replacement caught undisguised on the web

This is the first truly undisguised image of the new supercar from Lamborghini, and the first confirmation that it will be called the Aventador LP700-4.

Lamborghini has been very careful over the past few weeks to only drip-feed us information about its new V12 - the replacement for the venerable Murcielago - but this image is a photo of (we believe) a Serbian-language brochure due to be handed out at Geneva (to the Serbian press, we presume...) and reveals the Aventador in its full glory.

The eagle-eyed night-owls of the PH forums in fact spotted this out in Webland late last night, but for those who sleep more regular hours, we thought we'd bring the story to light on the PH homepage, too.

So it seems that the cat (or should that be bull?) is fully out of the bag, despite Sant'Agata's best efforts. What is it they say about the best-laid plans of mice and men...?

It looks good, Can't wait to see a side profile.
Its not a bad thing to say it looks like a Reventon but I was kind of hoping for a bit more revolutionary change rather than evolutionary one Perhaps from the side it will look completely different.
But its still a Lambo and I bet It'll be amazing thumbup

Looks nice enough, but hardly the radical styling changes that we've come to expect of every new car from Lamborghini.

Fully fresh Lambo's should always be a Revolution rather than an Evolution. Compare Countach vs Diablo vs Murciélago.

This is plain wrong. Bring Luc Donkerwolcke back!

Looks stunning. Can't see it making production with those prominent points on the front spoiler though.

Looks like a Red Reventon from that angle. I did wonder how could they possibly pen a more beautiful car than the Murci.

I like it, but what happened to Lamborghini's design shock-tactics? The Miura looked like nothing else in 1967, the Countach took the same trick to even greater extremes in 1973, and of the other models the Espada and LM002 really caused the world's jaws to hit the floor.

Dare I suggest that Lamborghini's power to shock and amaze has been inherited by Pagani?

Yup, it looks like the love child of a Murciélago and Reventon... not that it isn't pretty mind you, just a bit predictable. I suppose years of Audi ownership has put a stop to the craziness.

I guess Pagani could've inherited it, but they've no clue of what to do with it.. the Huayra looks like a toned down Zonda imho.

You need to keep an even closer watch on Jalopnik then. On that site, there is a very good post about how we have all become immune to supercars as they are ten a penny out there and now more striking than beautiful. Function has largely displaced art in modern cars.

Looks OK though, better than the Pagani but like the Pagani, saddled with a stupid name that will never achieve the iconic status of previous names.

I believe they are now wholly owned by that avant-garde maker of plum-crazy off-the-wall cars... Audi.

So unendingly dull germanic efficiency is the order of the day.
