Heard this was going to at the Geneva Motor Show next month but does anyone know if it will be released this year or not? After looking at a MK3 MX5 I don't think it will be practical/flexible enough but think the Fiesta might fit the bill or a Mito Cloverleaf fixed on dynamic as should be!

Doesn't every Fiesta after the mk.3 have a reputation for being a rather good handling and fun car to drive?

Zetec S was a lovely little car - god know what mk that was, but it was about 13 years ago. We had one in the car pool and it was a great drive down a b road.

The previous ST wasn't particularly fast though, 2.0 and 150-odd bhp IIRC. Not a 'bad' amount of power but it really should've had more.

Compared to 206 gti , yes decent. I had st on loan in 2004 - 05 and it was very very poor , compared to other hot hatches . Yes I did top it up and bought a type r instead

The mk5 Fiesta Zetec S, as has already been mentioned. They were awesome litte cars, although sadly most of them have fallen into the hands of low rent chav modders who have ruined them. I had a lovely one as my first car, unmodified in that blue colour that Ford were doing all their sporty cars in. I loved it. Since then though, I think they've let the Fiesta model in general slide and the recent performance Fiestas have been very uninspired.

But the forthcoming ST with turbo power sounds like we are harking back to the RS turbo's of the late 80's. There will be a chav image whatever Ford do but lets not let that get in the way of what should be a cracking not so little hot hatch (hopefully).

The last Fiesta ST is supposed to be a good driver but petrol consumption is poor for the power (something of a trait in the ST line) and the power itself is lagging behind at 160bhp or so. However, Ford have always been good at making the Fiesta a good handling car, and I'm sure 160bhp is more than enough for a few overtakes here and there.

They do seem to hold their value quite well now, at least the well looked after ones do anyway.

The Fiesta ST never really appealed to me TBH. Very thirsty for what it was. Did think about purchasing a Zetec S though, (not the newest one but one before) as they werent too thirsty and handled really well. IDK about the ST in the new shape though, as long as they arent scared of outperforming or out selling the focus ST they should do fine. Think the reason the last ST was so disappointing was because they didnt want to make it so hot that it stole sales from its bigger brother?

I think that last point nails it. Ford probably wanted the Focus ST to be seen in a better light but the downside was that the Fiesta ST was just lagging behind it's competitors.
