stiff handbrake and noisy dampers

hi guys
just bought the chim,used to have wedge,i have a couple of questions.
the handbrake has hardly any movement,a real effort to get to the first click but then it does hold.it has been checked and said this normal!
also are dampers a bit noisy over imperfections in our ever smooth roads,again had it checked new bush fitted on exhaust.
any ideas would be helpful

hi .. firstly the handbrake sounds distinctly normal for TVR dealer set-up, however if one click is all you get you're missing out on the true performance of the handbrake .. there's should be a small amount of play before you can feel teh cabler being pulled by the lever.
The small amount of play is important cos thsi ensures the operating levers at teh calipers are on their rest stops, without this the self adjusting mech in teh caliper doesn't work .. typically you would have 4/5 clicks of movement at the lever.
dampers .. this is the valving in the damper opening - altho it sounds bad, it actually proves the valving is working and doesn't affect the damper performance.
However : this can also be a sign that the top threads are fretting and can result in the top eye of the damper parting company from the piston rod, all dampers of the affected batches should have been roll-pinned to stop that happening .. but might be worth getting your local dealer or indie to check them out (they might not even be aware of the roll pin issue!).
