A few days ago my alternator decided it didn't like charging batteries anymore and gave up.
Coincidently whilst having an impromptu drag race with a new Mclaren!
Andy at APM agreed to fit me in at short notice today.
So, with a fully charged battery I set off for the 39 mile trip this morning.
No lights on, wipers on intermittent. Not even the radio!
Got about 30 miles and the wipers started slowing dramatically!
Another 3 miles, developed a misfire and the wipers stopped half way across the screen.
Started raining quite hard now and i thought i might just make it.
Alas, in Liphook town centre, 3 miles to go, it stalled at a roundabout.
I pushed it onto the pavement and made the phone call.
AA man only took about 15 minutes to get to me. Very impressed with them again!
He charged it up for 15 minutes and followed me to Andys'.
Andy had the new one on in about an hour.
Then with my luck being as it normally is (s
tty f
kin crappin bad), we had another problem.
The new Lucas alternator was a tiny bit bigger than the Mag. Marelli one.
It was resonating through part of the inlet manifold making a dreadful noise.
At this stage i would have probably used a hammer on the f
king thing but Andy the true professional, took it all apart again and ground a bit off the casing.
Thank you Andy for not costing me my excess!!;)
Job done and perfect again, well, until the next time....

It was from a rolling start about 10mph. I span 'em up and he pulled away a bit but i started catching him after that though. I was quite surprised. Good ol' cerbies!
Cerbs are great cars, and still properly quick compared to almost anything. But to compare a Cerb to the MP12C is not a credible comparison. The MP12C has 600 bhp, a shed load of forced induction torque and weighs 1300 kgs, even Brummies Yank powered animal would struggle to stay near that. If you were catching it, then the driver wasn't trying.Smacks a bit of Saxo vs M3 at the lights stories from boys with baseball caps...

I know what your saying Jim. Just telling it as it was.Smacks a bit of Saxo vs M3 at the lights stories from boys with baseball caps...
Im not bragging as i thought he would leave me for dead. He didnt. Why would he only use 80% throttle to impress me?
They run 10.9 sec quarters i believe. My Cerbie is quicker than my old Chevy and that ran low 12's in street trim. Cerbie probably good for 11's i would think. Probably less than a second in it in perfect conditions.
On a bit of dual carriage way, already rolling, not much in it as i said. This was a test mule that Ricardo were using, may be its not the full monty?

On the roads though even a 25% difference in 'power' is unlikely to be at all significant IMHO (not that I am condoning the use of the power etc).
Concur, one of my weekend playmates is a Tamora (350hp)that get used 'properly' and even with 450hp there's not a lot in it, all at legal speeds on the road etc.steviejasp said:

That'll be an emissions test car (tailpipes), they're all production prototypes and will be full spec I used to work there. Unlikely they'll play properly as it's very frowned upon and if the wrong person sees you it can cost you your job.Im not bragging as i thought he would leave me for dead. He didnt.
