Family car.... your thoughts please

Looking for a family car for the next few years. I am toying with the idea of an E class Mercedes or a Land Rover Discovery. My budget is £15k ish… Any other ideas...

Merc E320CDI Estate. (If you want an estate)
Chris Harris ran one and called it the best family car ever. I believe he tools around in a newer E Class estate now.
Brabus chip makes them very fast indeed...

I'd love an E320 cdi Estate, 2006 facelift onwards is recommended by most as there were a lot of changes to the electronics which were previously a weak point.

You can tell a 2006+ from an older car by the slats in the front headlights.

If you want a newer car for the money Skoda Superb estate has to be worth a look, as big and well equipped as an E class but half the price to buy and less expensive to own and maintain.
