Why Scissor Doors Were Invented

We love Lambo's Diablo - it's all those little practical touches...

When Steve Hall popped over to Phil James's gaff on a mission to photograph PH's latest Buying Guide, he couldn't resist a shot of Phil's Lamborghini Diablo tucked away in the garage.

We winced when we saw it, but maybe the picture just serves to illustrate what type of PHer would consider running a Diablo in the first place. As somebody once said: "It's not just what you've got under the bonnet (or boot lid) that counts, it's what you've got between your legs..."

You can see more pics of Phil's fabulous 6.0 VT in the PistonHeads Lamborghini Diablo Buyers Guide.

That honestly does look totally impossible to have actually got it in there in the first place! Ha ha.

Nice work that man.

The mind boggles as to how you get out - do you have some form of ladder and platform set up to avoid having to clamber over the car? wink

Double garage, bit still tight to get through the door.

Love it!!!

Shows the amount of commitment it takes consider one of these beasts. Can you get us a video of it going in and the driver getting out though? I thought having to push my mates Westfield into a tiny space in his dad's garage was awkward but that takes the biscuit.

Surely he can just mis-space his garage to go with the plates... wink

That's clearly not quite as bad as the picture makes it look. The rear wheels are almost in line with the door and the Diablo has a significant rear overhang. Perspective makes it look worse than it actually is.

Yes, but its still bloody tight!

When I bought my current place it didnt have a garage so we built one - the architect (my wife) asks how wide do you want it?

I measured the width of the esprit with the drivers door wide open plus space to walk past. Yep, that's how wide our garage is!

.. just a shame we don't have that car any more frown

I am guessing the approach to the door has something akin to this (the 'meatball' off an aircraft carrier)

That is "Rizla"!

Most impressive is that he drove it in rather than reversed it in!

£50 says that within 6 months he's scraped it getting it in or out.
