I was browsing through ebay for Impreza bits and clocked this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2010-Subaru-Impreza-WRX-STi-...

Made me think, has anybody seen one on the road yet? I can't see past the lack of the big wing. How do we reckon it will sell...

I think it is brilliant. I am tempted to remove the wing off mine, but I know it would devalue.

It’s okay – it just does not look aggressive enough for me really... Will be interesting to see if this model helps Subaru turn a corner with sales volumes...

Don’t remove the wing wink

It's probably an amazing car, however, Subaru really don't have a good marketting team.

"What sells?"
"The ones that look like rally cars."
"We want to move away from that. Remove the wings from the UK version, and make sure that gold wheels and Mica blue paint are not on the options list".

That must be how the conversation which doomed this Impreza. BMW, VAG and Mercedes buyers are not going to go for something that is such a focused, hardcore driving machine, and it's had a big price hike and looks like a dull German saloon, the old Impreza fans (the ones that you might say, made Subaru what they are in 2011!) will not go for it.

I think in a few years time Subaru will see sense and give us a new one that lives up to the old ones.

Agree - I never understood the hatch for similar reasons. In short, they got above their station thinking that they could appeal to a wider market with this model. It’s even funnier that they did not attempt to improve the interior. Very shallow thinking on their part... However, I guess sales volumes and time will tell...

Anyway, has anybody seen one on the road?

I'm not really convinced by the saloon - much prefer the way the hatch looks. Good cars though.

Just store the spoiler safely until you come to sell and then it wouldn't be a problem regarding value.

I'm kind of leaning towards getting one as my next car. From the photo's and video's they look great in white IMO.

Although I drive for a living.. I have only seen one on the road!! I think that it is the price that is making them a rare sight, but to me, that is actually quite a good thing!

Same for me. I spend tons of time driving all over the country and I am yet to see one! Personally, without the wing I would rather the hatch... Anyway, since my JGM remap I am more than happy with what I have smile ... The guy is a genius...

I rather like the hatchback now so give it 2years and assuming they sell some I will probably like the saloon too lol.

It needs a wing though

With a wing it looks great, without a wing it just blends too much into the blandoor German saloon crowd. Funny how something as inconsequential as a wing can totally change the character of a car.

Transforms the car - still, 38K frown

Somebody is going to have to buy one new if I have any hope of ever owning one second hand. 38K can buy a lot of good cars including an Evo, a second hand R35 (in a few years perhaps), a porky, an M3... The list goes on...

The 'spoiler-less' look has been gaining momentum in Scooby communities for a while. I must admit, if I still had mine, or got another, it would probably be wingless. They weigh a tonne and cause a lot of drag whilst giving no downforce, and I'm getting too old for the rally slag look. I think this looks great.....
